September 27, 2008 Tub with body
work and paint resting on the frame.
October 4, 2008 Front fenders and
doors.
October 12, 2008 Headlamp housings,
door hinges, kick plate, bonnet, running boards & gas
tank straps painted.
November 20,
2009 The
doors, gas tank, spare tire holder, passenger side fender
installed. A great deal of time was spent fitting the
doors. Shims at the door hinges were needed, and
proper spacing of the tub on the frame was important to
allow the doors to rest in the proper position. We
also built steel reinforcements (in black) to help support
the doors better on the inside edge where the hinges
mount. Also we added a cable turnbuckle system to help
lift the doors and slightly twist them in at the bottom for
a nice snug fit in the closed position. The doors are
now solid and fit better then they probably did from the
factory in 1952!
January 10, 2010 The re-chromed original grille
installed. Back fenders, gas tank, spare tire carrier,
spare tire,
rear splash apron, and rear bumper installed. Front
fenders being fitted, headlamp brackets in place. The
hood is
resting in place. The rear tail lights are installed
along with the T bracket for the license plate. The headlamp buckets are
installed along with the left wing mounted mirror.
January 31, 2010 I pulled the car
outside in the sun for some better pictures. The
headlamps and running boards are temporarily in place.
March 14 -20,
2010 The windshield mounted and a little celebration was
in order! After getting the car back to my house we
celebrated a bit more with a cruise around the block!
